RANAGHAT POLICE DISTRICT HISTORY
Being established on May 29, 2019, the Ranaghat Police District was carved out from the Krishnanagar Police District in Nadia. Since its establishment, the Ranaghat Police District has showcased remarkable success in crime control and actively participates in preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of the region. The diverse cultural heritage of Nadia, particularly within the Ranaghat PD, vividly outlines the historical backdrop of its formation.
Nestled within layers of history, Ranaghat stands as a town woven with threads of resilience and cultural richness. Initially chosen as the district capital of Nadia post-independence, Krishnanagar city later assumed that role.
Amidst its historical landscape, the town houses temples and sites that resonate with tales of devotion and architectural splendor. Krishna Panti, acknowledged as one of the "5 Great Noblemen of Bengal," played a pivotal role. The Pal-Chaudhuri family's legacy, including the donation of land and the construction of temples, meticulously crafted by Scottish architects, stands as enduring evidence of Ranaghat's rich architectural heritage.
Furthermore, Ranaghat's history intertwines with the saga of Hindu refugee families seeking sanctuary during the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971, adding another layer of resilience and diversity to its cultural narrative. In every stone, arch, and sacred corner, Ranaghat whispers stories of a bygone era, beckoning us to explore and appreciate the historical temples and sites that have withstood the sands of time, preserving the unique charm and cultural vibrancy of the Ranghat Police District.
